Indonesia foreign exchange reserves reach US$146.3 billion

Bank Indonesia reported that the nation's foreign exchange reserves stood at US$146.3 billion at the end of September 2026. This figure represents a slight decrease from the US$146.5 billion recorded in August 2026. According to Ramdan Denny Prakoso, Head of the Bank Indonesia Communication Department, the reserve level was influenced by government foreign loan withdrawals and tax and service revenues, alongside pressures from maturing foreign debt payments and rupiah stabilization policies amid global market uncertainty.

The current reserves are equivalent to approximately 5.3 months of imports, remaining well above the international adequacy standard of three months. Bank Indonesia maintains that these levels support external sector resilience and macroeconomic stability.

In separate financial news, Pegadaian launched the ‘Gadai Bebas Sewa Modal’ program, offering 0% interest credit facilities for new customers to improve financial inclusion. Additionally, Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti emphasized that sustainable economic growth requires three pillars: capital, innovation, and talent, particularly to support green and inclusive transitions.
