Pegasus Airlines completes acquisition of Czech Airlines and Smartwings

Pegasus Airlines has completed the acquisition of Czech Airlines and the Smartwings Group following all necessary regulatory approvals. The transaction is intended to bolster Pegasus's presence in Central and Eastern Europe by combining its low-cost business model with Smartwings' established position in the leisure travel segment.

The combined fleet will consist of more than 175 aircraft, with further growth supported by existing orders for an additional 140 aircraft. While the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the companies stated that the Smartwings and Czech Airlines brands will continue to operate under their existing names, maintaining current operations and passenger relationships.

Pegasus Airlines CEO Güliz Öztürk stated that the merger aims to provide a wider range of options to passengers and fulfill the company's ambition of making flying accessible to more people.
