Peggy Guggenheim exhibitions announced in London and Venice
Two upcoming exhibitions will highlight the legacy of art collector Peggy Guggenheim.
The Royal Academy of Arts in London will host ‘Peggy Guggenheim In London: The Making of a Collector’. The exhibition focuses on her groundbreaking gallery, Guggenheim Jeune, which operated in London between 1938 and 1939. The display will feature over 80 works, including paintings, sculptures, and photography by artists such as Salvador Dalí, Vasily Kandinsky, and Jean Cocteau, exploring the gallery's role in the development of Surrealism and abstraction.
In Venice, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection will present ‘Fucina degli Angeli. Peggy Guggenheim e il vetro artistico del Novecento’. Curated by Cristina Beltrami, the exhibition reconstructs the history of Murano glass in the post-war period and Guggenheim’s decisive role in its international recognition. The show will run from November 2026 to March 2027.
