Pehuenche Pass proposal aims to boost cargo transport in Maule

Deputy Guillermo Valdés has proposed enabling the Pehuenche Pass for cargo transport to stimulate economic growth in Chile’s Maule Region. The initiative aims to strengthen commercial connections between Chile and Argentina by utilizing the strategic border crossing as a platform to attract investment, new industries, and productive activities.

Valdés stated that the pass has significant untapped potential. He argued that increasing the flow of goods could drive the development of logistics services, transportation, and regional infrastructure. Furthermore, the proposal suggests that this commercial expansion could eventually justify the construction of a port in the region and create direct and indirect employment in sectors such as construction, commerce, and industry.
