Pekanbaru accelerates drainage construction to combat flooding

The Pekanbaru City Government is accelerating the construction and improvement of drainage systems across several areas, including Jalan Paus, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, and Jalan Suka Karya, to combat persistent flooding.

Mayor Agung Nugroho stated that the project faces significant budgetary challenges, as funds must be shared with other infrastructure needs such as road repairs and public facilities. To address this, the city is seeking collaboration with the Riau Provincial Government, particularly for drainage systems located on provincial roads that impact the city's overall water flow.
