Pekanbaru City Government targets underground relocation of messy cables

The Pekanbaru City Government has launched an initiative to relocate disorganized overhead telecommunications cables to underground conduits. The project specifically targets Jalan Ronggowarsito, with a completion goal set for September 30, 2026.

Working alongside network providers and the Riau Association of Telecommunications Network Providers (APJATEL), officials aim to improve urban aesthetics and enhance public safety. The move follows reports of hazardous conditions, including dangling wires that have caused injuries to motorcyclists. The government intends to implement this cable reorganization in stages across various road sections to reduce the risk of accidents caused by broken or sagging lines.
