Indonesian Police Crack Down on Drug Trafficking in Multiple Cities

In Binjai, North Sumatra, an undercover Satresnarkoba operation early on May 26 intercepted two men, FA (23) and PA (26), seizing eight ecstasy tablets, a motorcycle and phones. Both were charged under the narcotics law with a minimum four‑year prison term.

In Ogan Komering Ulu, South Sumatra, police attempting to arrest a suspected drug dealer were attacked; Brigadier Joni Agustoni was stabbed in the back and hospitalized in intensive care.

A night‑club raid in Pekanbaru, Riau, resulted in the detention of 13 individuals, including a local celebrity (SA) and the child of a regional head (FA). Urine tests confirmed use of cannabis and the anesthetic etomidate; two persons were identified as possessors of cannabis material, while the others were classified as light or heavy users and referred for treatment.

In Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, the narcotics unit seized two packages of methamphetamine totaling 0.52 g from one suspect and, after a cooperative confession, uncovered seven additional packets (1.96 g) at a second suspect’s residence. Both men were arrested and face up to 20 years imprisonment and heavy fines.
