Pelabuhan Belawan Police arrest suspects in multiple robbery and theft cases
The Pelabuhan Belawan Police Criminal Investigation Unit has arrested suspects involved in multiple robbery and theft cases within their jurisdiction.
In one operation, police apprehended a 23-year-old man, identified as A.B.A., in connection with three violent robberies (curas). These incidents involved threats with sharp weapons to steal motorcycles and mobile phones. One victim reported being threatened with a machete during a robbery on August 4, 2026, while another victim had a phone stolen on September 14, 2026, after which the perpetrator used the device to contact the victim's relatives to solicit money.
In a separate investigation, authorities arrested a 49-year-old man, D.I.H., for two cases of aggravated theft (curat). The suspect admitted to stealing a motorized rickshaw (bentor) in Tanjung Mulia and a truck battery on Jalan Aluminium Raya. The suspect reportedly sold the stolen goods for 145,000 IDR. Police are currently investigating two accomplices, identified by the initials J and B, in relation to these thefts.
