Pella police arrest man for attempted fraud against elderly woman
Police in Pella arrested a man following an attempted fraud targeting an elderly woman. The scheme involved a female accomplice calling the victim while impersonating an accountant, claiming the woman owed tax fines.
The accomplice instructed the victim to hand over cash and jewelry to a male associate for photographic purposes. Officers intercepted the suspect as he approached the victim's residence. A second local accomplice, who was waiting nearby in a vehicle, has also been identified.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify further accomplices and determine if the group is involved in other criminal activities. The arrested individual will be brought before the Janissina Prosecutor. The Central Macedonia Regional Police Directorate has issued warnings advising citizens, particularly the elderly, not to trust strangers claiming official identities or to disclose the location of valuables.
