Pella police arrest three men for telephone fraud scam
Three men were arrested in connection with a telephone fraud targeting a woman in the Pella region of Greece. The perpetrators used a scam involving an impersonation of a DEDDIE employee, claiming there was a risk of an electrical leak at the victim's residence.
Under this pretext, the victim was convinced to place 6,000 euros in cash and jewelry valued at 10,000 euros into a bag and leave it outside her home for protection. The suspects subsequently stole the cash, jewelry, bank cards, and personal documents.
Following an investigation, police located the three suspects in the Thessaloniki area. Authorities recovered 1,789 euros and a portion of the stolen jewelry, which were returned to the victim. Four mobile phones were also seized. The investigation remains ongoing to identify an accomplice who made the initial call and to determine if the group is involved in other similar crimes.
