Pellet prices rise amid supply tensions and high demand
Heating pellet prices are rising significantly, complicating efforts for consumers to find affordable alternatives to gas and fuel oil. Some users report that the cost per ton has increased from approximately 190 euros to 400 euros.
Several factors are contributing to this market tension, including the closure of a major factory in Germany and recent summer wildfires that destroyed portions of the raw material supply. Additionally, rising costs for gas and oil have increased production and transport expenses for wood-based fuels. As winter approaches, high demand is leading to delivery delays of up to two months.
