Pelón Pelo Rico launches limited luxury edition in Mexico

Pelón Pelo Rico, the iconic Mexican tamarind candy, has released a limited-edition luxury version titled ‘Pelón N. º 1’. Created in collaboration with El Palacio de Hierro, the edition is limited to 600 numbered pieces.

The luxury presentation replaces the traditional plastic container with a high-purity glass bottle from Nouvel Glass, featuring a numbered wooden cap, a special case, and 24-karat edible gold flakes. Despite the premium packaging, the announced price for the piece is 20 pesos.

Originally founded in Jalisco in 1985 by Fernando Topete Dávila of Grupo Lorena, the brand was inspired by the mechanism of dolls that expelled material from their heads. The brand is currently part of The Hershey Company.
