Peloponnese railway stakeholders oppose rail bike concession
Local stakeholders and representatives have issued an open letter expressing strong dissatisfaction regarding the proposed long-term concession of a section of the Peloponnese railway line. The proposal involves the Kyveri–Andritsa area in Argolida for tourist exploitation via rail bikes.
The signatories argue that the railway is a unified public network and a strategic infrastructure for the entire region. They warn that granting even a small segment for tourism could create disproportionate obstacles to the future full-scale reactivation of the entire railway network. The letter calls for clarity on design, safety, and the role of local communities, asserting that strategic infrastructure should not be treated as fragmented plots of land for lease.
