Peloponnese Region funds digital upgrade for Kalamata Municipal Art Gallery
The Peloponnese Region is funding a digital upgrade for the Kalamata Municipal Art Gallery ‘A. Tassos’ as part of the ‘Peloponnese 2021–2027’ program. With a total public expenditure of €349,898.24, the project aims to enhance the visibility of the gallery's collection through modern technology.
The initiative includes the documentation and processing of 364 artworks and 122 maps, the creation of an information system and web portal, and the development of a 3D virtual exhibition with virtual tours. Additional features will include a digital guide, augmented reality applications, and a documentary on the history of the exhibition.
Peloponnese Regional Governor Dimitris Ptochos stated that the project connects culture with technology to make the region's cultural wealth more accessible to both local citizens and an international audience. This digital transformation is part of a broader regional strategy to improve infrastructure, tourism, and connectivity across the Peloponnese.
