Pelotas and Curitiba allocate over R$90 million to expand public health facilities
In Pelotas, Mayor Fernando Marroni inaugurated the start of construction for a new Regional Polyclinic and the Specialized Rehabilitation Center (CER 4) under the federal PAC program, committing R$35 million to the projects. The works, undertaken by W C Engenharia and overseen by municipal urban planning officials, aim to reduce waiting lists and provide dedicated services for visual, auditory, motor and intellectual disabilities.
Meanwhile, Curitiba announced an extraordinary allocation of R$58.2 million to reinforce its SUS hospital network. The funding will raise monthly transfers from R$6.3 million to R$9.7 million through December 2026, supporting 14 public and philanthropic hospitals that provide 2,657 beds and account for 96 % of city admissions. The investment, sourced from the municipal treasury with state health ministry support, is tied to performance targets covering stroke, trauma, cardiac, oncology and elective surgery care.
