Pelotas police investigate ATM theft at gas station
The Civil Police, through the Organized Crime Repression Precinct (Draco), is investigating the theft of an ATM from a convenience store at a gas station in the Três Vendas neighborhood of Pelotas.
On Saturday night, criminals entered the establishment by cutting a hole in the rear wall of the building. To obstruct visibility, they placed a barrier in the external area. The suspects used a blowtorch to break into the Saque Pague automated teller machine.
In addition to stealing the ATM, the perpetrators damaged the alarm system and removed the DVR, which stores internal camera footage, preventing immediate access to recordings of the crime. Investigators are now analyzing footage from nearby properties and working with the General Institute of Forensics (IGP) to identify the suspects.
