Pema Khandu launches Tawang Marathon 2026 branding and registration

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has officially launched the branding and registration platform for the fourth edition of the Tawang Marathon, scheduled for October 24, 2026. The unveiling included the event's new logo, mascot, official T-shirt, finisher medal, and website.

Organized by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh in association with the Indian Army, the high-altitude endurance race will take place at approximately 10,000 feet above sea level in the Eastern Himalayas. Organizers expect over 4,000 participants, including more than 200 elite runners from India, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Nepal.

The event is designed as a sports-tourism initiative to promote the state's cultural heritage and responsible tourism. Beyond the competition, the marathon aims to stimulate local economic activity by benefiting hotels, homestays, and transport operators in the Tawang region.
