Pembrokeshire County Council spends £6.5 m on housing purchases and logs £5.6 m budget surplus

Pembrokeshire County Council bought 17 residential properties and a children’s home site for a total of £6.53 million between November 2025 and March 2026, funded largely by government grants. The acquisitions include homes across Tenby, Marloes, Pembroke Dock, Haverfordwest and other locations, with individual purchase prices ranging from £105,000 to over £2.6 million for larger blocks of units.

In the same financial period the council finished its 2025‑26 budget with an underspend of £5.6 million, boosted by an unexpected £2.4 million increase in council‑tax revenue. The surplus will be placed into an initiative fund for improvement projects, with £1 million earmarked for refunds to owners of second‑home properties that successfully appeal valuation assessments and the remaining £1.4 million retained as a reserve.
