Pembrokeshire hosts National Eisteddfod and launches local dialect Gospels

The National Eisteddfod, a major celebration of Welsh language and culture, recently concluded in north Pembrokeshire, attracting over 100,000 visitors. Pembrokeshire County Council officials noted the event's success and emphasized a commitment to building a lasting legacy by promoting the Welsh language across the county, particularly in rural communities.

In conjunction with these cultural celebrations, a new translation of the four Gospels into the specific Welsh dialect of north Pembrokeshire has been launched. The work was completed by the late Rev. Lyn Lewis Dafis, a theologian and former Welsh Language Officer for the Diocese of St David’s. Using the New Welsh Bible as a foundation, Dafis translated the texts to make them more accessible and culturally relevant to local speakers in the region.
