Pembrokeshire planners reject Burger King and housing proposals

Planners in Pembrokeshire have rejected two separate development applications.

Pembrokeshire County Council refused a proposal by Motor Fuel Group to install a Burger King at a Morrisons petrol filling station in Haverfordwest. The plan involved extending the existing sales building to include a hot food takeaway and an indoor seating area. While the developer argued the site would cater to motorists and complement the town centre, an officer report recommended refusal due to a lack of evidence regarding the functional necessity of the extension.

Separately, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park rejected a residential application by CAD Properties for four bungalows behind the Dinas Cross Service Station. The development was denied because it failed to include the required 50 per cent affordable housing contribution. Although the developer submitted a viability report claiming affordable housing was unfeasible due to costs, officials cited the lack of contribution and the visual impact of the scheme as primary reasons for the refusal.
