Pemex begins compensation payments for KREM-1 well victims

Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) has begun the process of issuing compensation payments to residents and farmers affected by an incident at the KREM-1 well in Las Choapas, Veracruz.

Following months of protests and road blockades by rural communities demanding reparations for damages to crops, pastures, and livestock, Pemex established a service desk at the Las Choapas City Hall. The company is distributing dispersion slips to affected individuals as part of a previously agreed-upon 45-day response period. Local authorities, including Mayor Jesús Uribe Esquivel, have participated in dialogue to facilitate these claims and ensure the compensation process follows established agreements.
