Pemex controls small fire at Salina Cruz Refinery
Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) reported a small fire at the Salina Cruz Refinery in Oaxaca on Friday morning. The incident occurred at 10:30 hours in the Alto Vacío 1 area of the Primaria 1 plant.
The fire was caused by a pore in the serpentín of the H-201-B Heater during a scheduled shutdown for maintenance. Specialized firefighting crews responded immediately, extinguishing the flame in less than six minutes. Pemex confirmed that the event caused no injuries and posed no risk to the facility's operations or personnel safety.
This is not the first incident at the facility this year; a previous fire in May at the Hidros 2 plant resulted in six injuries. The Salina Cruz refinery is a critical component of Mexico's National Refining System, producing an average of 262,000 barrels of fuel daily.
