Pemex embroiled in payment disputes with transporters over 100 million pesos

Mexico’s interior ministry (Segob) set up a mediation table between state oil company Pemex and the Confederación Nacional de Transportistas Mexicanos (CONATRAM) after the oil giant’s fertilizer subsidiary Fertinal fell behind on payments of more than 100 million pesos. The debt, owed to over 300 transport firms nationwide, has prompted threats of road blockades and demands for a regular dialogue to ensure timely payment and improve logistics for the Fertilizers for Welfare program.

In a separate but related incident, providers at the Protexa facilities blocked a HIAB truck, accusing the company of reneging on payment agreements and acting in bad faith. Representatives said the dispute involves at least 13 firms with unpaid balances dating back to 2023‑2024, and that the standoff required the presence of state police and the National Guard. The providers also questioned why Pemex continues to award contracts to Protexa despite the payment controversies.
