Pemex pays 52 million pesos to victims of Krem-I well fire

Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) has begun paying indemnities to residents affected by a prolonged fire at the Krem-I well in the rural area of Las Choapas, Veracruz. On September 28, the company disbursed 52 million pesos in a single day to compensate for damages.

The fire lasted more than 100 days, impacting nearby ranches and properties. Reported damages include livestock mortality, destruction of crops and pastures, damage to fencing, and harm to personal belongings such as roofing sheets and wires due to prolonged exposure to released gases and substances.

Jesús Uribe Esquivel, the municipal president of Las Choapas, stated that this initial payment is part of a continuous process. Residents who have documented and verified their losses at the Municipal Palace will continue to receive compensation in the coming days.
