Pemex pipeline in Axapusco found with tunnel and clandestine tap
Authorities have discovered a tunnel and a clandestine connection to the Tuxpan-Azcapotzalco poliduct in the town of La Presa, located in the Axapusco municipality. To access the infrastructure, individuals excavated a tunnel and broke through the concrete casing designed to protect the pipeline.
Upon discovery at kilometer 254+093 of the Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) pipeline, personnel from Pemex Physical Security, the National Guard, state police, and Civil Protection arrived at the scene. A hose was found connected to the main pipe, which was presumably used for the illegal extraction of fuel.
Pemex workers are currently performing repairs to secure the clandestine tap, inspect the condition of the pipeline, and seal the breach. Civil Protection has cordoned off the area as a preventive measure to protect local residents. No arrests have been reported in connection with the incident.
