Pemex repairs subsea pipeline at Ek-Balam field

Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) is progressing with specialized repairs on a subsea pipeline at the Ek-Balam field in the Gulf of Mexico. The pipeline has been depressurized and isolated since September 10 to prevent further oil flow.

Technical teams using saturation diving are working at a depth of 50 meters to install a metal enclosure designed to repair the affected section. Reports indicate that the removal of concrete ballast and the fabrication of the metal enclosure have reached completion, allowing installation to begin.

To prevent environmental impact, containment and collection vessels remain on-site. Pemex and the Mexican Navy (Secretaría de Marina) are conducting continuous monitoring through maritime patrols and aerial surveillance from Tamaulipas to Campeche. Authorities stated that there is currently no risk of hydrocarbons reaching the coastline, and monitored beaches remain clean.
