Pemuda Katolik hosts multi-organization badminton tournament in Jakarta

The Central Board of Pemuda Katolik (Catholic Youth) organized a cross-organizational badminton tournament for youth and student groups in Jakarta from August 21 to 23, 2026. Held at the Ministry of Youth and Sports badminton courts in Senayan, the event was themed ‘United in Sportsmanship, Moving for Indonesia’ to commemorate the 81st anniversary of Indonesia's independence.

A total of 39 youth and student organizations from diverse backgrounds participated, including national-level organizations, regional groups, and Catholic Youth Communities (OMK). The competition featured 36 men's doubles pairs and 24 women's doubles pairs.

Stefanus Gusma, Chairman of Pemuda Katolik, stated that the tournament serves as an effort to maintain national unity and brotherhood through inclusive and creative spaces. He noted that the event reflects the organization's commitment to social teachings through active involvement in national life. Tournament committee chairman Anakletus Fasak highlighted the high enthusiasm of the participants as a reflection of the younger generation's spirit in celebrating independence through positive activities.
