Přemysl Otakar II. and the fall of the Přemyslovci dynasty

The death of Přemysl Otakar II. at the Battle of Marchfeld on August 26, 1278, marked a significant turning point for the Přemyslovci dynasty and the Bohemian lands. Following his defeat by Rudolf I. Habsburg, the victorious king had the fallen monarch's body displayed in a Viennese monastery for a month to signal the end of his influence.
