Penamacor hosts conference on regionalization and administrative reform

The civic group ‘Por Portugal. Por Todos.’, supported by the Municipality of Penamacor, hosted a conference titled ‘Regionalization: a reflection’ to discuss administrative models in Portugal. The event included national political figures and regional mayors, aiming to foster critical debate on creating a more efficient and accessible public administration.

José Miguel Oliveira, the President of the Penamacor Municipality, emphasized the importance of regionalization for interior territories. He argued that increasing self-determination for local populations is essential for national cohesion and development. Oliveira also highlighted the vital role of local government in territorial cohesion, noting that 2026 will mark 50 years of democratic local power.
