Penang Pakatan Harapan maintains cooperation with Barisan Nasional
Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman and Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow has reaffirmed the coalition's decision to continue cooperating with Barisan Nasional (BN) and UMNO within the state government. Chow stated that the decision has not been questioned during recent internal DAP engagement sessions or state meetings.
This stance follows criticism from DAP National Advisor Lim Guan Eng, who urged the state leadership to ‘act decisively’ regarding its relationship with BN. Lim expressed concern over BN's ties with the opposition coalition Perikatan Nasional (PN) and criticized the decision to retain BN's sole executive councillor, Rashidi Zinol, in the administration, calling it an ‘unconditional endorsement’ of UMNO.
Lim also criticized the lack of response to recent comments by UMNO leader Reezal Merican Naina Merican, who suggested that DAP and PKR focus primarily on a single race. Chow dismissed these concerns, noting that the cooperation remains stable within the current leadership structure.
