Penela Municipal Council increases funding for CDR Penelense

The Penela Municipal Council has approved a financial support package of 40,000 euros for the Clube Desportivo e Recreativo (CDR) Penelense. This represents a 14.2% increase compared to the previous period, adding 5,000 euros to the previous allocation.

The funding increase follows a commitment between the municipality and the club's leadership to maintain current membership fees for young athletes. This measure aims to ensure that economic factors do not prevent children and youth from participating in sports, serving as a tool for social cohesion.

CDR Penelense, recognized as a local entity of Sporting Merit, focuses heavily on youth training for over one hundred athletes. The club's senior men's football team competes in the Divisão de Honra of the Coimbra Football Association, and the organization also maintains a competitive billiards section.
