Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro elected PENGASSAN National President

Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro has been elected as the new National President of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN). Emerging unopposed at the association’s first Quadrennial National Delegates Conference in Abuja, Olabiyi-Agoro succeeds Festus Osifo, who led the union for six years.

A petroleum engineer with over 20 years of industry experience, Olabiyi-Agoro currently works with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). His administration has pledged to prioritize worker welfare, specifically targeting the issues of contract staffing and casualization within the oil and gas sector. He stated that long-term employees should no longer be classified as temporary staff.

Additionally, the new president vowed to protect jobs during periods of industry restructuring, automation, and the global energy transition. He emphasized a commitment to negotiating just transition agreements, retraining, and redeployment to ensure members are not left behind by industry shifts.
