Pengkalan Kubor border activity declines following southern Thailand violence

The Pengkalan Kubor Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) complex in Tumpat has seen a significant decrease in activity following recent violence in southern Thailand.

Typically, the border crossing experiences high traffic during public holidays, with many travelers heading toward Tak Bai in Narathiwat province. However, recent observations show a shift in movement, with more vehicles entering Malaysia from Thailand rather than the reverse. Local workers and travelers expressed concerns regarding safety, noting that many are avoiding staying long in Narathiwat or traveling at night due to the risk of attacks.
