Peninsula Energy hires uranium veteran Gary Birch for Wyoming Lance project

Peninsula Energy, an Australian uranium mining company, announced the appointment of Gary Birch, former chief operating officer of Heathgate Resources, as its chief technical officer. Birch will join on September 28 and work with a newly formed technical committee chaired by non‑executive director Keith Bowes.

The changes are intended to strengthen technical oversight of the Lance low‑pH in‑situ recovery (ISR) uranium project in Wyoming, USA, improving wellfield performance, mine planning and processing. Peninsula’s CEO George Bauk said the move supports the ramp‑up of production after the company withdrew its CY2026 production guidance because of short‑term pumping and gas‑generation issues. The firm also engaged South Australian consulting group Rendement for additional technical support.
