Penélope Cruz promotes new films at San Sebastián Film Festival

Actress Penélope Cruz has returned to the San Sebastián Film Festival to promote two major projects: Olivia Wilde’s ‘The Invite’ and ‘La bola negra’, directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi. The latter has been selected for the Perlak section and serves as Spain’s official Academy Award candidate.

During the promotion of ‘La bola negra’, Cruz shared that the filming process was particularly intense. She revealed that while filming the ambitious ‘Batallón de Modistillas’ sequence—which involves singing, dancing, and action—she was privately awaiting medical results regarding a potential cerebral aneurysm. Despite this personal stress, the film has seen significant commercial success, filling cinemas during its opening weekend.

Cruz’s presence at the festival also drew attention for her fashion choices. For the premiere of ‘The Invite’, she wore a black Miss Sohee haute couture minidress featuring Swarovski crystals and floral embroidery. The ensemble sparked mixed reactions on social media and among fashion critics regarding its silhouette and styling.
