Penn State coach maintains confidence in quarterback Rocco Becht
Penn State head coach Matt Campbell has reaffirmed his commitment to starting quarterback Rocco Becht despite a recent 21-18 loss to Michigan. Following the defeat, in which Becht committed three second-half turnovers, Campbell stated that the team has “complete faith” in Becht and noted that the player continues to play good football.
While backup quarterback Alex Manske has seen limited action, Campbell indicated that the time is not yet right for a change in the starting lineup. Campbell noted that Manske is growing but has missed significant practice time over the last two years due to injury. Becht expressed similar confidence in Manske, stating he is “excited about him and his future” and that Manske is in a good position to observe the game from a bird’s-eye view.
The Nittany Lions currently hold a 3-4 record and have lost four consecutive Big Ten Conference games. Penn State is scheduled to host Purdue on October 31.
