Penn State Coach Matt Campbell defends quarterback Rocco Becht
Penn State football head coach Matt Campbell has expressed complete confidence in starting quarterback Rocco Becht, despite a recent performance against Michigan where Becht committed three turnovers. Following a 21-18 loss to Michigan, Campbell addressed the media during the team's bye week, stating that there was never any consideration of changing quarterbacks.
Campbell emphasized Becht's importance to the team's current standing, noting that the program would not be in its current position without his play. Regarding backup quarterback Alex Manske, Campbell noted that while Manske is developing, he is not ready to take over the starting role. Manske's progress has been impacted by missing spring practices due to undergoing open heart surgery earlier this year.
Penn State currently holds a 3-4 overall record and is 0-4 in Big Ten play. The team's next game is scheduled against Purdue on October 31.
