Penn State football enters new era under coach Matt Campbell

Penn State is entering a new era of football under head coach Matt Campbell. Following a period of transition, the program is implementing a significantly revamped offense for the upcoming season.

Campbell has brought offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser and several assistant coaches from Iowa State to lead the unit. The roster changes are extensive, including 14 former Cyclones among 20 offensive transfers. Quarterback Rocco Becht, who has played in Campbell’s system for five years, is expected to lead the team. After recovering from shoulder surgery and managing previous injuries, Becht has reportedly performed at an elite level during training camp, showing improved mobility and command of the offense.

The program's current transition marks a stark contrast to the era of 1966, when coaching staffs were much smaller and operated under vastly different administrative and financial structures.
