Penn State fraternities linked to cocaine trafficking ring

Fourteen individuals, including thirteen current or former Penn State University students, have been charged in connection with an alleged cocaine-trafficking ring operating through the Delta Upsilon and Sigma Chi fraternities. The investigation, dubbed ‘Operation Drugs Unlimited,’ revealed that the ring was active during 2023 and 2024.

Prosecutors allege that Agostino Abbatiello and Thomas Robinson served as the primary suppliers, making regular trips to Philadelphia and New York to procure large quantities of cocaine. The drugs were then processed and packaged inside the off-campus fraternity houses. In some instances, investigators found that cutting and packaging the cocaine was used as a form of indoctrination for fraternity pledges.

Several defendants face felony charges, including corrupt organizations and conspiracy. One defendant, Paul Robinson, a father of a student, is accused of attempting to conceal evidence and obstructing the investigation. In response to the allegations, Penn State University has placed the Delta Upsilon fraternity on interim suspension, while noting that Sigma Chi is not a recognized organization under university oversight.
