Penn State offense shows improvement in first training camp scrimmage
Penn State's offense showed significant improvement during its first live scrimmage at Beaver Stadium following a difficult practice session earlier in the week. Tight end Ben Brahmer described the previous Thursday practice as a “struggle bus day” due to slow play and poor performance in third-and-long situations.
Offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser noted that the Saturday scrimmage was characterized by high physicality and intensity, with the team executing over 90 plays in hot conditions. Mouser highlighted the offensive line's performance, specifically praising the coordination between second-year tackle Malachi Goodman and veteran guard Trevor Buhr.
Wide receiver Zay Robinson, a redshirt freshman transfer from Iowa State, was identified as an offensive standout, earning praise from Mouser for his competitiveness and for catching the scrimmage's longest touchdown pass. Several projected starters, including running back Carson Hansen and receiver Brett Eskildsen, did not participate in the scrimmage.
