Penn State players named to Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list

Penn State football players James Peoples and Chase Sowell have been named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list. The award honors the top offensive player in Division I football who demonstrates qualities such as integrity, teamwork, and tenacity.

To be eligible, candidates must have graduated from a Texas high school or currently play for a Texas-based Division I college. James Peoples, a running back from San Antonio, Texas, previously earned a spot on the Doak Walker Award watch list. Chase Sowell, a wide receiver from Hunter, Texas, enters the season following a productive stint at Iowa State.

The watch list will be reduced to 16 semifinalists in November and five finalists in December, with the winner announced in late December and honored at a banquet in Tyler, Texas, in January 2027.
