Penn State secures 45-0 shutout victory over Marshall
Penn State secured a 45-0 shutout victory over Marshall at Beaver Stadium. The defense, led by defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn in his coaching debut, held Marshall to just 147 total yards and prevented them from reaching the red zone.
On the defensive side, true freshman cornerback Josiah Zayas earned a starting role and played 34 snaps, recording two tackles for loss. Head coach Matt Campbell noted that Zion Tracy is returning to full strength following a training camp injury, though Lynn plans to utilize Zayas in the slot while maintaining Tracy's versatility across the secondary.
Offensively, tight end Andrew Rappleyea was highlighted by coach Matt Campbell for his physicality. Rappleyea provided a crucial block on a blitzing cornerback during the team's first touchdown drive, which resulted in a 42-yard scoring pass from quarterback Rocco Becht to Koby Howard.
