Collegiate women’s soccer matches end in multiple 1-1 draws

Several collegiate women’s soccer matches resulted in draws during recent competition.

In a matchup between Virginia Tech and Penn State, the Hokies secured a 1-1 tie. After Penn State took an early lead via a penalty, Gabby Ciocca scored for Virginia Tech in the 85th minute to equalize. The goal was confirmed following a VAR review.

The University of Iowa and Kansas State University also played to a 1-1 draw. Kansas State opened the scoring with a goal from Allison Marshall, but Iowa’s Reilly Heman responded in the 50th minute to level the match. Kansas State goalkeeper Maddie Subbing recorded eight saves during the contest.

Additionally, Illinois State Soccer held Saint Louis to a 1-1 tie. Mikayla Carkhuff scored for the Redbirds early in the first half, but Audrey Smith equalized for the Billikens with less than three minutes remaining in the game.
