Penn State Wrestling coach Cael Sanderson provides season updates

Penn State wrestling coach Cael Sanderson provided updates on the team's roster and player health during a recent media day. Sanderson confirmed that Tyler Kasak and Josh Barr have recovered from injuries sustained at the U.S. Open in April and are expected to compete this season.

While several positions in the lineup are set, including Luke Lilledahl, Marcus Blaze, Shayne Van Ness, Rocco Welsh, and Josh Barr, other spots remain uncertain. Sanderson noted that the program will likely not announce specific lineup details until their first match against Bloomsburg on November 12.

Additionally, the eligibility status of reigning two-time national champion Levi Haines remains unresolved due to ongoing NCAA rule changes regarding the ‘five-in-five’ eligibility policy. Haines is currently ineligible for the 2026-27 season, though the program is preparing for the possibility that he may be able to compete.
