Pennsauken police investigate murder-suicide of siblings

Authorities in Pennsauken, New Jersey, are investigating a murder-suicide involving two siblings that occurred on the morning of Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

Police responded to a shooting report at a residence on the 4400 block of Bethel Avenue around 9:01 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found 59-year-old Janet Camacho on the front steps of the home. She was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at approximately 9:38 a.m.

A security perimeter was established, and the Camden County Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team was deployed. Following an inspection of the residence, which included the use of a robotic dog, officers located 60-year-old Daniel Lopez inside the home. Lopez, the victim’s brother, was found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Pennsauken Police Department are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
