Pennsylvania allocates $3 million for free school menstrual products

Pennsylvania is allocating $3 million under its 2026-27 budget to provide free menstrual products in schools statewide. This initiative follows previous funding rounds totaling $9 million and is expected to serve more than 650,000 students.

The program provides funding to over 750 Pennsylvania school districts, intermediate units, career and technical centers, and charter schools. State health officials have framed the spending as both a health measure and an initiative to improve school attendance, noting that lack of access to hygiene products can lead to students missing class.

In northeastern Pennsylvania, schools are set to receive $412,604 in allocations. Specific regional distributions include $101,753 for Lehigh County, $85,549 for Luzerne County, and $81,420 for Northampton County.
