Pennsylvania allocates revitalization and community funding to various cities
The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue and the Department of Community and Economic Development have announced new funding and tax credits to support regional development and social services.
Reading has been awarded $185,057 through the City Revitalization and Improvement Zone (CRIZ) program. This marks the city’s first award under the initiative, which was recently reopened by Governor Josh Shapiro. The funding is intended to support downtown revitalization and the repurposing of underutilized properties.
In Mercer County, $425,425 in tax credits will be distributed via the Neighborhood Assistance Program. These funds target projects addressing food insecurity, job training, and housing repairs. Key recipients include the Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County, Hunters Sharing the Harvest, and the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp., which will use funds for critical home repairs.
