Pennsylvania Floods Close Roads, Cut Power After Heavy Rain

Heavy rain on Sunday caused flash flooding across north‑central Pennsylvania, with rainfall ranging from one to more than five inches in Union and Lycoming counties. Water covered portions of Route 45 in Hartleton and forced the closure of several local roads. The National Weather Service issued flood warnings for Union, Lycoming and Penns Creek, and emergency crews rescued motorists trapped in rising water.

The storm also knocked out electricity for hundreds of customers. PPL reported 451 outages in Lycoming County, the highest number, along with additional outages in Perry, Union, Snyder, Juniata, Schuylkill, Northumberland and Dauphin counties. PennDOT issued advisories and listed numerous road closures and lane restrictions due to flooded roadways, downed trees and utility damage, urging drivers to avoid flooded areas.
