Pennsylvania heating oil prices reach $6.01 per gallon

Heating oil prices in Pennsylvania have reached an average of $6.01 per gallon, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. As winter approaches, the rising costs are placing significant financial strain on households, with a standard 200-gallon delivery now exceeding $1,200.

Legal experts note that low-income families are being forced to make difficult choices between heating, rent, medication, and other essential needs. While the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) offers state-funded grants ranging from $200 to $1,000, advocates warn that the fixed dollar amounts of these grants provide less fuel than in previous years due to the price surge.

In response to market volatility, some residents have utilized price-lock agreements with delivery companies to mitigate costs. Meanwhile, technical resources have been released to help residential property owners understand fuel storage, distribution mechanics, and the mechanical components of oil-fired heating systems to ensure proper seasonal operation.
