Pennsylvania senators propose statewide robotics funding legislation

Pennsylvania State Senator Devlin Robinson and Senator Nikil Saval are co-sponsoring legislation to establish a statewide grant program for K-12 robotics. The proposed bill aims to provide funding to help schools launch new robotics programs and support existing ones, reducing the need for schools to rely on local fundraisers or community donations for equipment and competition fees.

Robinson highlighted the importance of the measure during a visit to Upper St. Clair High School, where he recognized the school’s robotics team, TeraBridges. The program has seen significant growth, expanding from two students to over 400 students districtwide. Robinson noted that the skills developed through robotics—such as coding, complex problem-solving, and teamwork—are essential for the future workforce in manufacturing, technology, and healthcare.
